Am. Pipits and Am. Golden Plovers in Montgomery Twp., other field notes, Sept. 19, 2012

Jeff Ellerbusch found the fall migration season’s first two American Pipits (AMPI) in Morris and Somerset Counties this morning at Selody Sod Farm in Montgomery Township. According to the eBird database, the only other September 2012 reports of AMPI so far in New Jersey are from Round Valley/Spruce Run Reservoirs and a single record from the Meadowlands. None are listed at all from Morris County in 2012. 3 American Golden Plovers and the usual 100 Killdeer were also at Selody Sod Farm.

At Bee Meadow Park in Whippany this morning, Jamie Glydon had Pied-billed Grebe, Veery, Brown Thrasher, Black-and-white Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart, Magnolia, Chestnut-sided and Black-throated Green Warblers, and White-throated Sparrow.
