Red-throated Loon continues at Budd Lake, Nov. 28, 2012

From Alan Boyd at Budd Lake, Mt. Olive Township:

Hi Jonathan -
The Red-throated Loon found by Tom (Halliwell) last week was still visible toward the back end of the lake. There were several small groups of Common Mergansers on the lake totaling about 20 birds. In one group I thought I might have had a female Red-breasted Merganser, but the light was not good and the birds were very distant. If someone else is birding there soon, maybe they might get a better look. I found that the best spot to look is at the corner of Netcong Rd and Sandshore Rd. There is an old tavern on the lakefront that is closed and you can pull over by their boat ramp.

Also on the lake were 12+ Lesser Scaup, 8 Hooded Mergansers, and 4 Ruddy Ducks. Sixty-six Hooded Mergs were on Lake Musconetcong.
