The Boonton Christmas Bird Count occurred on Sunday, December 23, 2012. 37 participants logged many hours searching for birds to add to the count. A warm and hearty “Thank You!” to all of the observers who make this endeavor happen and succeed.

The full report is not part of this post for a few reasons:
1. It is long.
2. There is a lot of HTML formatting that gets stripped in an email post.
3. Corrections may be necessary. The web page serves as the official document and can be edited as needed.
In brief, despite flooded conditions and lack of natural concentration points (all bodies of water were open; no snow cover at all) the indefatigable band of participants managed to find 96 species plus 2 more count week species.
Some of the highlights are Greater White-fronted Goose, Cackling Goose, record numbers of Snow Geese and Common Raven. The complete report is at http://mocosocobirds.com/birds-of-morris-county-n-j/boontoncbc/2012-2/.
