The New Jersey Bird Record Committee’s (NJBRC) Report dated 2011 is published. It covers records of review species for the calendar year of 2010. Morris County has two records added to its list: Varied Thrush, a county first; and the second county record for Painted Bunting. The List of the Birds of Morris County on mocosocobirds.com includes these additions as of February, 17, 2012.
The Varied Thrush was a backyard bird in Mt. Olive from November 23 to December 14, 2010.
The Painted Bunting was photographed at a feeder in Montville on December 4, 2010. Interestingly, both accepted Morris County records of Painted Bunting are from Montville.
Somerset County’s list is unaffected by the NJBRC report.
