Jeff Ellerbusch reports Tree Swallows moving up the Raritan River at 5:45 p.m. viewed from the towpath along the Delaware and Raritan Canal in the eastern section of Franklin Township, Somerset County. Approximately 100 were viewed on the Somerset side of the Raritan River with even more on the Middlesex County side. These are the first swallows of any species reported in 2012 for either Somerset or Morris Counties.
