Red-necked Grebes at Lakes Musconetcong and Parsippany, April 1, 2012

From Alan Boyd – Lake Musconectcong:

Hi Jonathan,

This afternoon there were 2 red-necked grebes and 26 horned grebes in one group on the lake. Also on the lake were 12 lesser scaup and 10 ruddy ducks.
At one point there were a dozen or so barn swallows perched on the wires above my head, the first I’ve seen there this year.
There was also a nice breeding-plumaged common loon.
(Red-necked grebes were also seen today at Spruce Run and Swartswood Lake). – Alan Boyd
