Hi Jonathan,
This morning, at about 7:30 am, my husband and I saw a Bittern at the first pond at Glenhurst in Warren. It was near the bridge then flew across to some bushes at the other side where it stayed with its head pointing straight up to the sky. Quite cooperative!
Later this morning there was a massive clean up effort with volunteers so there are hopes that the brook will flood less. Unfortunately, lots of ATV’s and a back hoe only made the trails muddier. Thanks for this site! – Ellen Waldstein
Editor’s note: This is the first report of any Bittern or Rail species in the Mocosoco region in 2012.
