The Tourne in Boonton Township, June 10, 2012

From Tim Vogel (June 10, 2012):

Tourne beaver swamp.
Besides the more interesting residents (Hooded Merganser 3 – with one flying in hole, vocal and visible Red-Headed Woodpecker) today’s new birds for me this AM were singing Brown Creeper and Black-throated Blue Warbler.

Tom Halliwell’s Purple Martin report moves to the top of the list for great finds. I worked the south end of the beaver swamp trying to get a better look but no luck. This is worth watching. Inland Purple Martin sightings in breeding season in north NJ are rarer and rarer.

Haven’t seen them there in a year
