Alder Flycatcher at Glenhurst Meadows; Prothonotary Warbler at Lord Stirling, June 14, 2012

From Mike Newlon:

At Glenhurst Meadows this morning (6/14) – highlights were a pair of Red-shouldered hawks in the NE corner of the tract, Pileated Woodpecker along the Passaic River, a Turkey and an Alder Flycatcher near the gazebo close to the gate.

From Harvey Tomlinson:

Hey Jonathan,
I spent 15 min’s watching what I thought was just a male Prothonotary warbler at Lord Stirling until he began to sing next to me. The bird I had my bins on at that moment wasn’t singing, and the one to my left was. It’s a pair and they were carrying caterpillars to a tree further across the river. The cavity isn’t facing the Stirling side and unless you watch them going back and forth you’d never know. I’ll bet they feed in Morris county as much as in Somerset. I would say they are nester’s w/ young.
I also had a Black-billed Cuckoo over near the Friends blind that at first I thought was Least Bittern.
