Jeff Ellerbusch reports an adult Black-crowned Night-Heron (BCNH) at Best Lake near the Watchung Circle in Watchung. This is the first BCNH reported to eBird in Somerset County during 2012. This species is not a frequent visitor to the Mocosoco region. Watchung Lake hosted a BCNH in June and August of 2011 with one other Spring report from Lord Stirling Park. That is it for Somerset County in 2011-12. There was only one report to eBird for Morris County in 2011. 2012 has 2 records from the Great Swamp and one record of two individuals from Melanie Lane Pond in Hanover Township.
