Five birders spent the late afternoon searching the Gillette Trail area in Washington Township. The Pine Grosbeaks found this morning by Mike Britt were not relocated. The field across from the barn held 25 American Pipits but no Horned Larks.

From Tim Vogel, Jan. 7, 2012:
FYI: Lake Parsippany has reopened in the area of the east beach with a long patch crossing almost to the other side. On hand were: Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Mallards and some Ring billed Gulls.
Historically Lake Parsippany has produced many rare gulls when these conditions occur.
Also on Saturday I had 3 Red-breasted Nuthatches in what remains of the pines of Jonathan’s Woods.
Regards
Tim Vogel
