I found a juvenile Woodpecker today in Bee Meadow Park, Whippany. Also, the 2 adults are still hanging around in the same area.

From John J. Collins at Duke Farms:
I saw 2 Lincoln’s Sparrows (by the Community Garden parking lot fence) and 6 White-crowned Sparrows (all immatures) (3 by the Community Garden parking lot fence and 3 in the culvert on the main path to the east of the visitor’s center) at Duke Farms this morning. In addition there were dozens of Savannah, White-throated, Chipping, Song and a few Field Sparrows. At least 17 Killdeer were in the plowed field beyond the Community Garden.

Ruddy Ducks are here: 175 at Mt. Hope Lake and 54 at Boonton Reservoir emphasize that point. In addition, Mt. Hope Lake has 4 Gadwall, 6 Ring-necked Ducks, the first 2 American Coot of the season in Morris County, 16 Double-crested Cormorants, one of the resident Bald Eagles roosting on the highest rock pile (a mountain actually) in the quarry, 1 Great Egret and 35 Mute Swans.

7 American Pipits were on the flats of Lincoln Park Gravel Pits. An Osprey, 5 Pied-billed Grebes, a Lincoln’s Sparrow and lots of Song, Swamp and White-throated Sparrows, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Yellow-rumped and Palm Warblers. Duck numbers diminished from a week ago with only 33 Wood Ducks (100+ last week) and no Teal present. Chuck Smith, a local birder, informed me that the Pits property, owned by Pia Costa, has been leased to a hunting organization. In other words: Enter at your own risk.

Glenhurst Meadows had 7 Red-headed Woodpeckers along the Passaic River (Jeff Ellerbusch). 2 American Pipits, both Kinglet species, 3 Eastern Phoebes, Blue-headed Vireo, 31 Eastern Bluebirds, Nashville Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, lots of Palm and Yellow-rumped Warblers, 12 Chipping Sparrows, Lincoln’s Sparrow and the typical species of Glenhurst were also present.

One of the Vesper Sparrows continues at Finderne Wetlands (Tom Smith).
