Great Swamp NWR this morning…
Friends Blind: Waterfowl + Highlights
– Canada Goose- 20
– Tundra Swan- 1
– Wood Duck- 16
– Am. Wigeon- 1 male
– Black Duck- 10
– Mallard- 20
– G-winged Teal- 15
– No. Pintail- 3
– Ring-necked Duck- 1
– Pied-billed Grebe- 1-2
– Snipe- 5+
– Phoebe- 2
– Tree Swallow- 300+
– Rough-winged Swallow- 5+
– Barn Swallow- 15ish
– Palm Warbler- 4
– Swamp Sparrow- 1
– Rusty Blackbird- 3 singing males
The Tree Swallow flock was very large and actively feeding above the water against the farthest tree line. Had at least 1 bird that looked very decent for Cliff Swallow… but at that distance without a scope, and with it disappearing in the swirling flock it wasn’t definite.
