Went to Glenhurst meadows for the first time this afternoon. There was still a fair bit of snow and the flooding was pretty extensive (not that I’d been there before – but water was over the feet and ankles of my waders about 1/2 of the time while walking the trails). Lots of birds. I’m sure that someone with more experience would have seen many more – but I am pretty certain of these.

Thanks, Jody. I was there for my first time ever, too, just last Friday (before the snow). Yes, very wet and swampy/muddy everywhere. I saw many of the birds you saw, though I’ve never seen rusty blackbirds or pipits. Were they out in the front field area? I’d love to go if they’re still in the area. Thanks, Ken Hart

The pipets were working a large area of ice that was on the edge of the flooded fields. rustys were in a loose noisy flock moving in an around the trees. good luck!

Hey guys,
The best place for Pipit is the Wagner farm area, preferably the gravel lot between the two gardens. This is the western portion of Glenhurst. The Pipit are almost always flyovers but a few will land if you give it time. This area is also the best spot for Vesper Sparrow- 14 Pipit and 3 Vesper there late this evening.
Nice job with the coots Jody. Where did you have them, the flooded field before the back ponds? Thanks.
