From Alan Mart:
It took 45 mins, but the Lark Sparrow made a brief but very satisfying appearance this morning in the previously described hedgerow on Hillsborough Road. It was kind enough to fly out, perch in the sun and give me an unobstructed view for about 5 secs before returning into the hedgerow.
What time was this? I was there from 10:30 AM till a little after Noon and did not see the bird. I did see 2 Savannah Sparrows and 5 White-crowned Sparrows.
John, Alan’s eBird checklist is time-stamped 7:47 a.m. I saw it both Monday and Tuesday afternoons at 3:40 and 3:10 respectively. Both times it gave fairly good looks either feeding on the ground next to the hedgerow or roosting in the end of the hedgerow closest to Hillsborough Rd.
Jonathan, went by today around 1330 during the strong winds and didn’t see anything. Was there for only about 10 mins though. Saw your group of about 4 cars yesterday as I drove by!
If it was around 3 p.m. we were looking at the Lark Sparrow:)
