Common Goldeneye, Vultures, Feb. 21, 2013

From Tim Vogel:
Lake Parsippany – about 80% open
Common Goldeneye 1 (male)
Hooded Merganser 2
Ring-necked Duck 50+
Gadwall 2
Canada Goose +
Gulls +

Greystone Park Property – intersection of Central Ave. and Collins Rd. – 9am.
The Vultures previously reported roosting in the area were observed at this location. 114+ Vultures (mostly Turkeys but plenty of Blacks) on the ground. Don’t know if birds on the ground are roosting!
A Red-tailed hawk was sitting in a tree above this menagerie.

  1. Marc Chelemer's avatar Marc Chelemer says:

A recheck of Lake Parsippany on Friday from 06:45 through 07:45 AM yielded no visible Goldeneye. Three male Redheads in with the Ring-necked Duck at the Boat Launch area on the west side. Four American Wigeon, two Gadwall, at least 50 Ring-necked Duck in two flocks (Boat Launch and on the north side of the lake). Eight Hooded Merganser. Three Mute Swans plus one unidentified sleeping swan. One Great Blue Heron. Hundreds of Canada Geese.
