Waterfowl at Great Swamp N.W.R., 11-14-2011

At the Friends Blind at the Wildlife Observation Center of Great Swamp N.W.R., Long Hill Road, this afternoon.

36 Am. Coot
50-60 Am. Wigeon
45 No.Pintail
15 Green-winged Teal
2 Blue-winged Teal
5 Hooded Mergansers
2 No. Shoveler
10 Wood Ducks
Am. Black Ducks, Mallards and Canada Geese

An eagle came through and put everything up.

And of course, one of the Lloyd Rd. Bernardsville Trumpeter Swans (not countable!) remains in the area as it has been most of the year.

Troy Meadows, Morris County, 11-13-2011

From the Troy Meadows Road access: highlights were 55 Rusty Blackbirds (representing the highest number reported in Morris County this year according to eBird data), American Tree Sparrow, 2 Fox Sparrows and Purple Finch. Sparrows in general were numerous with 35 White-throateds, 13 Song and 12 Swamp Sparrows, at least, in a relatively small area at the edge of the marsh.
