Simon Lane found a light-phase Rough-legged Hawk at the Overlook on Pleasant Plains Road this morning. Jamie Glydon and I were able view it with him. It perched on the distant snags in the vicinity of the defunct heronry. It occasionally flew short distances, always returning to a perch. As we left, it was perched on a snag on the “left” side of the overlook viewing area. As I write this, some text messages report that there may be a dark-phase there as well.
25 American Pipits were directly in front of the overlook. A Merlin was on White Bridge Road before flying off.

As mentioned in the original post, there is a second Rough-legged Hawk at the Overlook – a Dark-phase.
