9 Vesper Sparrows were at Duke Farms today in the community garden area (Jeff Ellerbusch). Can anyone remember a bounty of Vespers as we have had this October? 80 American Pipits were in a single flock behind the community garden. Otherwise, the usual Field, Savannah, Song, White-throated and 4 White-crowned Sparrows were present. Below is a not uncommon sight recently: multiple Vesper Sparrows in the same tree.

At the southwest section of Troy Meadows this afternoon: Nashville Warbler and Winter Wren (neither of which wanted to be digiscoped), 20+ Rusty Blackbirds with 300 Red-winged Blackbirds, robust numbers of Savannah, Song, Swamp and White-throated Sparrows and 2 White-crowned Sparrows (J. Klizas).

One of the Vesper Sparrows of Troy Meadows Road was photographed by Mitch Van Beekum today.

Add another Vesper Sparrow to the mocosocoBirds collection: one was seen and photographed at the Lincoln Park Gravel Pits on Sunday, Oct. 27 (Jill Homcy).

It was a pleasure to enjoy an October 29th with calm weather.
