Weather:
Mostly cloudy with 100% cover except for a brief half hour of 50% blue sky
between 0935 and 1000. Temperature range between 43º F and 52º F with a
drop to 49º F when sky clouded over. Wind, WSW changing to SW at 5 mph and
variable. Visibility to 7 miles with haze 3 miles and beyond obscuring NYC
skyline.
Raptor Observations:
A lone TV appeared at 0928 over Bald Hill, followed by 2 BV’s at 0950 from
behind the Tourne. Both TV’s and BV’s flying in pairs and singly throughout
the day up and down the valley. First RT arrived at 1011 in front of ledge
at eye level. Big surprise of the day was a lone OS from behind the cell
tower just above the tree tops at 1028, followed by a RS at 1045 also from
behind the cell tower and across the valley toward the condos.
Non-raptor Observations:
Dark-eyed junco, Raven, Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse,
White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker, American Crow.
