The first Osprey of 2014 in Somerset County was viewed this afternoon by Jeff Ellerbusch at the Delaware and Raritan Canal Towpath. Common Goldeneye numbers are shrinking but are still at an impressive 47. 10 Red-breasted Mergansers continue this species more than usual presence in the mocosocoBirds area this winter.

2 American Pipits were seen on Opie Road, Branchburg Twp. Wilson’s Snipe, Killdeer and 600+ Canada Geese were also present.

Double-crested Cormorants were at Duke Island Park (J. Klizas) and Grigsstown (Andrew Lucas).
