Post-storm early report: Red-necked Grebes, Common Terns, etc., May 1, 2014

This is a brief report of morning sightings following yesterday’s deluge. A more complete report will follow later today with photos.

Lake Parsippany: 4 alternate plumaged Red-necked Grebes, Spotted Sandpiper (J. Klizas).

Boonton Reservoir: 1 alternate plumaged Bonaparte’s Gull sitting on the water, viewable from the south end and 2 Common Loons (J. Klizas).

Finderne Wetlands: 2 Laughing Gulls, 6 Common Terns, Common Loon, 5 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 12 Least Sandpipers (Jeff Ellerbusch).

Dave Blinder reports a Snowy Egret at Gardner Field, Denville.
