Friday Field Notes, May 16, 2014

Sylvan Lake in Skillman Park, Montgomery Township had a hen Common Merganser, 4 Semipalmated Plovers, 5 Killdeer, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 2 Semipalmated Sandpipers and 11 Least Sandpipers (Jeff Ellerbusch).

This morning along the roads of the Great Swamp were found Gray-cheeked Thrush (Pleasant Plains Rd. south of White Bridge Road for the second consecutive day), White-eyed Vireo (eastern end of White Bridge Road) and Tennessee Warbler (J. Klizas).

Gleanings from eBird:

  • 5 Black-crowned Night Herons are at Green Brook Park (Walter Blenderman).
  • 10 warbler species, including 3 Canada Warblers, were found at Glenhurst Meadows (Robert Skrabal)
  • Griggstown Native Grassland Preserve had Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoos, a Yellow-breasted Chat, Grasshopper Sparrows, Bobolinks and Orchard Orioles (Andrew Lucas).
