Bee Meadow Park, Whippany, 5/3/2011

From Jamie Glydon:

Did two quick (~30 minute) trips to Bee Meadow today, before and after work.

Total warblers species = 14
Blue-winged Warbler
Northern Parula
Yellow Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Blackpoll Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Ameircan Redstart
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Canada Warbler

Other new arrivals:
Red-eyed Vireo
Solitary Sandpiper

Lots of clearing has been going on at Bee Meadow Park since last Autumn. All of the thickets that were between the wooded area and football field have been cut down. Also a lot of the taller trees between the two ponds have been cut down or had their branches removed. Still Warblers and Vireos seem to favor the remaining trees adjacent to the ponds.
